Job Summary:

The Department of Biostatistics and Informatics (BIOS) of the Colorado School of Public Health (CSPH) has an opening for a full-time postdoctoral research fellow position. The successful candidate for this position will work with the Medical Image Phenotyping Lab (MIP) and will report to Dr. Antonio R. Porras, PhD.

The selected candidate will benefit from and contribute to multiple existing collaborations between BIOS, MIP and the top-ranked hospitals in the Anschutz Medical Campus: Children’s Hospital Colorado and University of Colorado Hospital. Specifically, the selected candidate will work on projects funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) that aim to develop image computing and machine learning methods, together with translational tools, to understand and identify both normal and pathological pediatric development to improve patient care.

The new postdoctoral researcher will be responsible for the design and development of novel medical image computing and machine/deep learning methods. Their scope may include image segmentation, image registration, disease screening and diagnosis, discovery of new image-based biomarkers, quantitative image-based phenotyping, anatomical modeling and/or predictive analysis. In addition, the selected candidate will collaborate with other faculty, students and physicians in the clinical translation of the developed methods.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:  

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.  

  • PhD degree in computer science, engineering, computational biology, applied mathematics, physics or related fields that provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities for this position.
  • Track record of publications as first and/or last author in scientific journals in the fields of medical image computing and/or deep learning, or equivalent peer-reviewed manuscripts in the proceedings of top tier conferences such as MICCAI, ISBI, EMBC or CVPR. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience creating and publishing deep learning methods.
  • Evidence of independent research through publications.
  • Experience collaborating in multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Experience with clinical translation of computational methods. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  •    Good organizational skills across individual projects and managing own workload.
  •    Excellent problem-solving skills
  •    Ability to work both independently and as a part of a team.
  •    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  •    Strong computational background and skills.
  •    Proficiency in programming using Python and/or C++.
  •    Experience creating machine/deep learning methods applied to image computing.
  •    Positive attitude and ability to work with computational and biomedical investigators.
  •    Ability to contribute to the growth and development of MIP and BIOS.

The starting salary range (or hiring range ) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

$61,008

The above salary range (or hiring range ) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
