General Description of the Position

The Shahidul Islam lab at the Department of Chemistry is recruiting an enthusiastic and motivated postdoctoral researcher to join an NIH-funded study on triple-negative breast cancer. The Post-Doctoral Associate will develop targeted nanobodies and small protein therapeutics to induce an immune response by targeting specific proteins in triple-negative breast cancer cells.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 
The individual in this job must possess these skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job, with reasonable accommodation, or using some other combination of skills and abilities:
1. Experience in the expression, purification, characterization, and optimization of recombinant proteins. 

2. Knowledge of two-hybrid screening, focusing on studying molecular interactions such as protein-protein, protein-DNA, and protein-RNA interactions. 

3. Knowledge of protein/antibody discovery and optimization using in vitro display (such as phage or yeast) technology.

4. Demonstrated experience in cell-based assays such as ELISA , binding assay by flow cytometry.

5. Familiarity with state-of-the-art biomolecular interaction analysis methods such as surface plasmon resonance (SPR) and bio-layer interferometry (BLI).

5. Knowledge of protein/antibody discovery and optimization using in vitro display (such as phage or yeast) technology.

6. Expertise in molecular biology techniques such as cell culture, PCR, mutagenesis, DNA extraction, and gel electrophoresis.

Qualification Standards

1. Education: PhD (required) in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Molecular Biology or related area.
