Position Description


Advertised Job Summary
The Zhu Neurology lab is seeking a full-time Post-Doctoral Fellow to work on projects related to mechanistic functions of therapeutic brain stimulation and aversive learning and response (NIH/NIMH).
Required Education and Experience
The position requires a doctoral-level degree (Ph.D. and/or M.D.) in Neuroscience or a closely related field (such as Neurobiology, Molecular/Cellular Biology, Physiology, Pharmacology, or Psychology)
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
The candidate is required to have expertise in neurophysiology or neuroscience, which could have been gained during the normal course of a doctoral degree program, plus competence in rodent handling and strong analytical and statistical skills.
The candidate is required to conduct research lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to compliance policies, procedures, and regulations. The candidate must be able to work independently and in a team.


Job Duties

Contribute to the lab’s research on aversive learning and response and neurobiological mechanisms of deep brain stimulation. The candidate will complete experiments using animal behavior, stereotaxic surgery, photometry, optogenetics, microscopy, and slice electrophysiology. Experimentation will require maintaining accurate and detailed data records.
