Position Description


Advertised Job Summary
The Postdoctoral Fellow will be trained on the available magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner at the McCausland Center for Brain Imaging (MCBI) and contribute to the acquisition, processing and analysis of behavioral and neuroimaging data from healthy speakers as well as people with aphasia. The Postdoctoral Fellow will contribute to the organization and execution of several ongoing externally (NIH) and internally funded research projects in the lab, related to the neurobiology of language and recovery from aphasia.
Required Education and Experience
· PhD in a field relevant to aphasia research (e.g. Public Health, Communication Sciences/Disorders, Neuroscience, Psychology, or related) by start date of employment.
· Expertise in acquiring and analyzing MRI data
Preferred Qualifications
· · Expertise with Matlab
· Expertise with statistical analyses and data visualization in R and/or SPSS
· Expertise with SPM and/or FSL neuroimaging data analysis software
· Record of scholarly research in stroke, aphasiology, and/or other adult neurogenic language or speech disorders.
· Strong publication record
· Creative thinker

The Postdoctoral Fellow should have experience in experimental design and data analysis, as well as a theoretical/conceptual background in cognitive neuroscience, speech-language pathology, and/or linguistics.

Retrieve behavioral and neuroimaging data from cloud storage, and pre-process and analyze these data for various purposes such as presentations, publications, and grant submissions.

Contribute to the design of new neuroimaging and behavioral exeriments, as well as the development of experimental materials. Coordinate new project submissions to the Institutional Review Board (IRB), as well as submission of study amendments. This includes writing project descriptions and consent forms, as well as other IRB-related documentation.
