Position Description


Advertised Job Summary
The Webb lab is recruiting a highly-motivated post-doctoral fellow to conduct interdisciplinary research in the broad areas of physiology, metabolism, and immunology on vascular and sexual function, structure, and mechanics. The successful candidate will be mentored by Dr. Clinton Webb and Dr. Fernanda Priviero and will collaborate with faculty members within the Cardiovascular Translational Research Center (CTRC), the Department of Cell Biology and Anatomy, and the USC School of Medicine. Major responsibilities include: Independently design, conduct, and analyze experiments related to the lab’s extramurally-funded projects focused on vascular and erectile physiology and hypertension or diabetes; assists in the training of other lab members (e.g., graduate and medical students); write and submit abstracts to scientific meetings, manuscripts to peer-review journals, and applications to fellowship agencies (e.g., AHA and NIH); and participate in CTRC activities (e.g., presentations, lab meetings and journal club). Demonstrates commitment to conducting business lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to compliance policies, procedures and regulations. This position established in support of expanded research activities.
Required Education and Experience
Ph.D. required in areas related to biomedical physiology and/or pharmacology.
Expertise in vascular or erectile physiology using myograph systems.
Preferred Qualifications
Peer-reviewed publications related to vascular/erectile physiology.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Will perform experiments on vascular or erectile function and mechanics. Must be comfortable with working with rodents and human subject samples. Must be self-motivated and capable of working independently, as well as collaboratively. Required to conduct business lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to compliance policies, procedures and regulations.

Will treat animals to produce the model of interest of the research in compliance with the animal protocol. Will perform in vivo, in vitro or ex vivo experiments, including animals surgeries and vascular and erectile reactivity by performing myograph, cell culture, western blots, immunohistochemistry, calcium influx, and other experiments to produce data to confirm the hypothesis and achieve the specific aims. Will provide assistance to graduate and undergraduate students by showing them how to perform the experiments.
