Position Description


Advertised Job Summary
Under general supervision of the principal investigator (PI, Dr. Colin Evans), performs experiments related to vascular studies of in vitro cell cultures and in vivo rodent models of inflammatory lung injury and thrombosis. Carries out data collection, analysis, and interpretation. Performs biochemical and molecular assays and assists with manuscript and grant writing. Presents data at national/international conferences. Contributes new ideas for current and future research projects. Coordinates interactions/collaborations with other laboratories and assists the PI with grants management. Prepares submissions and attains extramural grants on independent research topics. Develops professional skills and career prospects. Demonstrates commitment to conducting business lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to compliance policies, procedures, and regulations. Required Education and Experience
Ph.D. in Cardiovascular Physiology or closely-related field (e.g., Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Toxicology, or Pharmacology).
Preferred Qualifications
Ph.D. in Cardiovascular Physiology. Expertise with molecular techniques in physiology and pharmacology related to endothelial and vascular dysfunction. Expertise with cell culture, expression and quantification of proteins, and handling mouse models of vascular disease. Experience with in vivo experimental design and immunological techniques using cell lines and fluorescence microscopy. Experience with nanoparticles, gene editing, and/or molecular cloning.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Vascular studies of tissues isolated from mice. Biochemical and molecular assays. Histology and microscopy. Cell cultures. Animal handling and models. Required to conduct business lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to compliance policies, procedures, and regulations.
