Position Description


Advertised Job Summary
The LivJoy Postdoctoral Fellow will have the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research, collaborate with leading experts in the field, and participate in mentored research training in scientific writing, lab management and leadership, clinical phenotyping, and research methodology. The fellow will work with faculty principal investigator Dr. Jessica Klusek (Communication Sciences and Disorders), along with co-faculty mentor Dr. Jane Roberts (Psychology), and their respective teams at the University of South Carolina. The fellow must have an invested interest in Fragile X syndrome and contribute to scientific presentations and papers relevant to females with Fragile X syndrome during the fellowship.
Required Education and Experience
A PhD (e.g., communication sciences and disorders, psychology, social work, neuroscience, health and human development, education, genetics) completed by the start of the position.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong background in Fragile X syndrome and/or related neurodevelopmental conditions
- Track record of productivity, including peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders
- Commitment to advancing understanding and improving outcomes for females with Fragile X syndrome

Administer clinical assessments in a standardized manner to individuals with Fragile X syndrome and their families. Assist with recruitment when needed. Conduct pre- and post-assessment duties including scheduling, preparing measures to be administered, mailing information to families, and processing completed data. Score and summarize assessment data through feedback reports.

Providing leadership and contributing to the development, training, scoring, and reliable implementation of core measures of research protocols for ongoing studies, including various behavioral, cognitive, genetic, motor, and physiological evaluations. Provide expertise in data management practices and train others to comply with both lab and IRB standards.
