Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit | The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry (https://chem.uncg.edu/) features an extremely supportive and collegial environment with 15 full-time faculty and a diverse student body. We offer a BS in Biochemistry, a BA, BS, and MS in Chemistry including biochemistry options, and a PhD in Medicinal Biochemistry. Our department is housed in a 170,000-square-foot, $35 million state-of-the-art science building. Excellent core instrumentation and state-of-the-art facilities for NMR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry with full-time support staff are available on-site. |
Position Summary | The ideal candidate will have earned a Ph.D. in mass spectrometry, analytical chemistry, medicinal chemistry, phytochemistry, pharmacognosy, and/or natural products chemistry and will have expertise and interest in developing and applying novel methodologies at the interface of mass spectrometry and natural products research. Experience with mass spectrometry metabolomics experimental design and data analysis and/or expertise in the isolation and de-novo structure elucidation of natural products are desirable characteristics. A willingness and ability to contribute to a team-oriented research environment, participate in student training, and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, are essential. |
