We are seeking a postdoctoral fellow with a focus on: (1) geriatrics/gerontology or (2) health equity from the perspective of community engagement and social determinants of health, to join the University of Maryland, School of Nursing. The Department of Research & Scholarship provides an effective infrastructure that partners with faculty members in developing, facilitating, and supporting their research and scholarship goals. The office assures that all research conducted complies with relevant federal, state, and University research regulations. It collaborates with UMSON Administrative Services’ sponsored program team and collaborates with UMSON’s organized research centers. The Biology & Behavior Across the Lifespan (BBAL) Organized Research Center investigates the management of disease, the optimization of health, and the ways in which biological findings can influence disease prevalence and progression. The Center for Health Equity Outcomes Research (CHEOR) aims to improve health outcomes of people and systems of care. Both centers provide a core for the pooling of resources and sharing of data across a wide variety of projects. Their members provide leadership within the School of Nursing to guide research respective to their focus, providing numerous activities to support its researchers in training, service, and discovery. Primary responsibilities: • Research interests aligned with focus on: (1) geriatrics/gerontology or (2) health equity from the perspective of community engagement and social determinants of health.• Pursue activities that promote future success as an independent researcher.• Develop, conduct, and publish research.• Substantively contribute to the research and scholarship efforts of either the BBAL or CHEOR Centers through the dissemination

 

Qualifications

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Independent, self-motivated, and enthusiastic candidates with a Ph.D. with a focus on: (1) geriatrics/gerontology or (2) health equity from the perspective of community engagement and social determinants of health. Evidence of scholarly achievement in terms of data-based publications, extramural funding for pre-doctoral research training and participation in regional or national research presentations. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply. Qualified candidates must possess good oral and written communication skills. Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident to apply.
