The Department of Health Systems and Population Health Sciences at the Tilman J Fertitta Family College of Medicine, University of Houston (UH) seeks a qualified candidate to serve as a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work on population health-related projects. Sample projects include a) leveraging healthcare costs and utilization data to understand and address gaps in care; b) increasing adoption and sustained use of telehealth, remote monitoring and other digital technologies, and c) mixed methods studies that triangulate the impact of the lived environment on physical and mental health outcomes, using qualitative interviews and geospatial information systems (GIS). The fellow will have opportunities to collaborate with research partners, participate in field research activities, conduct data analysis, lead manuscripts and presentations, and develop grant proposals and research designs. The position is a one-year appointment based at the University of Houston College of Medicine and is renewable depending on performance and funding.

Essential duties include:

· Conduct research that includes but is not limited to analysis of data from recently completed or ongoing projects such as a-c listed above

· Contribute to and lead manuscripts based on empirical research

· Development of new proposals and contribute to protocol development

· Write up high-quality manuscript drafts and publication-ready figures for mentor to review and revise

· Coordinate among team members, developing new collaborations (discuss with mentor first before proceeding)

· Mentor undergraduate and graduate student researchers

· Communicate research to a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including industry partners (for example, healthcare payers) and community partners.

· Highly motivated and dedicated to being productive and open to interdisciplinary projects

Qualifications

 

Qualifications:

· Ph.D. in health services research, economics, psychology, public health, or related fields

· Strong capabilities in quantitative data analysis with fluency in Stata and /or SAS

· Experience using GIS, building maps, and creating dashboards using tableau or other tools

· Research experience on topics related to health outcomes and healthcare costs

 
Salary: 3,223.00 - 4,834.00
