  • May review and evaluate the effectiveness of personnel.
  • May plan for and assign personnel to projects under control.
  • Operates with latitude for unreviewed action.
  • May receive general supervision conferring with higher levels only in unusual situations.

    Additional Posting Information:

    • Our key challenge is to design motion controllers for swarms of robots.  This focuses on two aspects: underactuated magnetic manipulation, and artificial potential fields for teams of flying agents.
    • Perform cutting edge research in the robotic swarm control lab and publish in the top IEEE robotics conferences and journals.  Oversee junior PhD, Masters, and Undergraduate researchers, training them in research practices.  Design motion controllers and electronics for micro robot manipulators.  Participate in drafting research proposals and in presenting research work.
     

    Qualifications

     

    Doctoral and No experience

    Requires singular knowledge of a specialized advanced professional discipline or the highest level of general business knowledge, normally acquired through attainment of a directly job-related terminal degree or equivalent formal training in a recognized field of specialization that is directly related to the type of work being performed. No experience is required.

    • Minimum Qualifications: PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering, experience in simulating robots and designing custom electronics. prior experience on the supervision of masters and/or undergraduate team members, and excellent oral and written communication skills, as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications and presentations are required.
    • Preferred Qualifications:  Experience integrating Matlab and ANSYS (or similar) finite element solvers, experience with multi-robot motion planning, and novel sensor.
