Summary of Job Duties:

The newly established Dole lab, located in the Department of Physiology and Cell Biology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), Arkansas, is seeking a highly motivated, self-driven, and enthusiastic Post-Doctoral Fellow.
The Dole lab is interested in gaining insight into poor musculoskeletal health and function during chronic metabolic diseases. Our research focuses on the bone mechanical and metabolic function during homeostasis and nutritional variations. The Dole lab uses animal models of human diseases, nutritional interventions, transgenic mice, and in vitro approaches to address these questions. The Post-Doctoral Fellow will actively study the effects of obesity on bones with the aim of identifying epigenetic and molecular signatures that may be used as biomarkers for the early detection and diagnosis of bone fragility associated with obesity. We hope these studies will lead to therapeutic approaches that prevent the development of skeletal etiologies in obese patients and improves their physical function. Our lab collaborates with the Departments of Biochemistry, Orthopaedic Surgery, and the Nutrition Center in Arkansas Children's Hospital, giving the postdoctoral researcher the perfect environment needed for basic science and applicational/translational research.
