Summary of Job Duties:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual who is interested in supporting research projects in a variety of experimental models including population research, animal studies, and cell culture studies to understand the impact of exposure including diet, heavy metals, trace elements, pesticides, tobacco usage, and chemotherapies, in health outcomes. The Post-Doctoral will require working with human samples. Prior experience with liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) using multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) is desirable. Evidence in publication records and strong writing skills is preferred. Under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI), the Post-Doctoral Fellow will provide high-quality and professional operational support to maintain and support the analytical instrument in the laboratory.

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. degree in analytical chemistry, chemistry, biochemistry, or a related field required.

  • Hands-on experience in analytical instruments.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • In-depth understanding of both hardware and software of LC-MS, GC-MS, and/or ICP-MS.

  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in working with human samples is a strong plus.

  • Proficiency in LC-MS, GC-MS instrumentation, and data analysis.

  • Highly motivated, a team player, a quick learner, and a problem solver.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.


Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Develop methods for the LC-MS, GC-MS, and ICP-MS for the small molecule and heavy metal analysis workflows including sample preparation, microwave digestion, speciation, and data acquisition for assays of biological samples.

  • Supports research team in summarizing results and literature reviews and writings that inform presentations, papers, research grants, and research projects.

  • Participates in regular project meetings, and trainings, provides updates on progress, and communicates regularly with the study team.

  • Works with the study team to develop and implement secure systems for assuring the quality, confidentiality, and safety of the data and works with the study team to maintain appropriate study logs, records, and databases.

  • May perform other duties as assigned.
