The Laryngeal Biology Laboratory at Saint Louis University, directed by Bernard Rousseau, Ph.D., MMHC, CCC-SLP, ASHA Fellow, Dean of the Doisy College of Health Sciences is recruiting for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to perform research on an extramurally funded National Institutes of Health R01 project. The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will ensure that all experiments are appropriately conducted following all regulatory policies and procedures. Â

Job Duties: Â
As a postdoctoral research fellow in the Laryngeal Biology Laboratory at Saint Louis University, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to research experimentation under the general direction of the principal investigator (PI), Dean Bernard Rousseau. The responsibilities of the position will include, but are not limited to:Â
The design, planning, and implementation of research experiments Â
Experimentation using pre-clinical modelsÂ
Surgical intra-operative monitoring and in vitro and in vivo proceduresÂ
Tissue dissections and the preparation of specimens for experimental assaysÂ
Routine molecular biology assays, including immunohistochemistry and protein studiesÂ
Isolation and purification of DNA and proteins, gene expression assaysÂ
Primary cell and tissue culture and collection and harvest of tissueÂ
Reporting of results during laboratory and individual meetings with the PI and staffÂ
Dissemination of findings through abstracts and peer-reviewed publicationsÂ
Collaboration with other members of the laboratory and investigative teamÂ
Other duties as assignedÂ
The postdoctoral research fellow will be mentored by the PI and staff in the laboratory. Â
Minimum Qualifications: Â
An earned medical degree (M.D.) or doctoral degree (Ph.D.)Â
Surgical experience Â
A strong interest in pursuing and conducting basic science researchÂ
Hired candidates must provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19Â

Desired Qualifications: Â
Expertise in quantitative and/or qualitative researchÂ
Expertise in OtolaryngologyÂ
Methodological expertise in research design, implementation, and analysisÂ
