Position Summary
The University of Memphis College of Communication and Fine Arts invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow position to support the Institute for Arts and Health. We seek a highly motivated and talented individual with a relevant Ph.D. who is dedicated to advancing the mission of the Institute for Arts and Health. The Institute for Arts and Health at the University of Memphis is dedicated to advancing research, practice, and education at the intersection of the arts and healthcare. Our mission is to explore and promote the use of the arts as a means to enhance the well-being and quality of life for individuals and communities. We engage in interdisciplinary research, collaborate with healthcare professionals, and offer educational programs that highlight the transformative power of the arts in the realm of health and wellness. This is a full-time, 12-month position with competitive salary and benefits. The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will have access to research resources and opportunities for professional development within the University of Memphis.
Minimum Position Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in a relevant field, such as Arts and Health, Psychology, Public Health, Fine Arts, Music, Theater, or a related discipline.
  • Strong research background with a demonstrated record of publications and conference presentations.
  • Passion for promoting the role of the arts in healthcare and a commitment to the mission of the Institute for Arts and Health.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
Special Conditions
  • Conduct original research in a relevant field that aligns with the Institute for Arts and Health’s mission.
  • Collaborate with faculty, researchers, and healthcare professionals to develop and implement research projects.
  • Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at conferences.
  • Assist in grant writing and fundraising efforts to secure additional research funding.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of educational programs and workshops.
  • Engage in community outreach activities and foster partnerships that promote the Institute’s mission
