Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The Kofinas Functional Macromolecular Laboratory at the University of Maryland, College Park has an opening for a postdoctoral research scientist or assistant research scientist. Current projects aim in the synthesis characterization and processing of polymer based architectures used in a variety of technologies and devices ranging from energy storage to medical devices.
Compensation will be based on qualifications and experience, and will include a competitive benefits and retirement package offered by the University of Maryland. Postdoctoral /Assistant research scientists will receive a renewable, annual contract with the expectation of completing 2‐4 years of training. Flexibility to pursue related areas of interest, to apply for grants and fellowships, and to develop independent research directions will be encouraged.
Minimum Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have a PhD in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Bioengineering, or Chemistry, and experience in experimental polymer science.
Assistant Research Scientists are expected to have at least 3 years of experience since their PhD.
Preferences:
Preference will be given to candidates with specialization in any of the following areas: polymer based biomaterials, lIthium ion batteries, additive manufacturing, functional nanoparticle synthesis.
