Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The small fruit pathology lab at University of Maryland College Park is seeking a Post-doctoral Associate to conduct applied/basic research to study filamentous fungi causing fruit rots, such as Botrytis and Colletotrichum species.
  • Conducting various lab experiments, with an emphasis on fungicide resistance.
  • Leading field trials to validate disease models and/or evaluate different spray programs. 
  • Managing/analyzing data and writing research manuscripts.
  • Assisting in the preparation and writing of proposals, and project reports.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in Plant Pathology or related field.
  • Experiences in working with plant fungal pathogens.
  • Proficiency in DNA/RNA extraction, PCRs, and sequence analysis.
  • Ability to support data collection and project implementation in the field.
  • Ability to drive pick-up truck and travel to conferences and project sites, as needed.
  • Excellent writing skills, analytical skills, and presentation skills.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Strong motivation and initiative, along with excellent interpersonal skills.
Preferences:
Previous experience with working fruit pathosystems and fungicide resistance and its molecular basis.
