The Piotrowiak laboratory, Department of Chemistry, Rutgers University-Newark, seeks applications for a Post-Doctoral Associate position in ultrafast spectroscopy of complex materials and interfaces. Applicants should be well qualified and highly motivated. The appointment initially be for twelve months with reappointment possible depending on satisfactory performance, need for the position, and availability of funding.

Current projects in the group rely on the uses of ultrafast spectroscopy and Kerr-gated microscopy for the study of photoinduced electron and exciton transfer in dendrimers, at molecule-metal and molecule-semiconductor interfaces. Dynamic processes that occur far from thermal equilibrium are of particular interest. In addition to carrying out his/her research projects in one or more of the above areas, the Post-Doctoral Associate will help to train graduate students and participate in collaborative efforts. He/she will provide the high-level technical expertise, oversight, and routine maintenance of three femtosecond laser systems. Creativity and ability to work independently are expected.

Minimum Education and Experience

Ph.D. degree in experimental physical chemistry, experimental condensed matter physics, or closely related field with strong emphasis on the application and/or development of femtosecond spectroscopy methods. At a minimum, applicants should have hands-on experience in pump-probe transient absorption, fluorescence upconversion, pulse characterization methods, and kinetic data analysis demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications in discipline-appropriate journals.
