A Post-Doctoral Associate position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Pabitra Sahoo in the Department of Biological Sciences. The successful applicant will have job responsibilities including, but not limited to the following:
  • Performing molecular/cellular studies for neuronal development using in vivo (mouse models) and in vitro (hiPSCs and cultured primary neurons) models involving skilled surgical procedures on mice with a dissecting microscope under sterile conditions, in utero electroporation.
  • Performing studies for analyses of cellular and molecular signaling using in vitro and animal models of human disease, particularly neurodevelopmental disorders including data analyses, image processing, literature research, and composition.
  • Differentiating hiPSCs to various neuronal types in both 2D and 3D.
  • Handling transgenic mice models, maintaining colonies, genotyping, and record keeping.
  • Assisting with research design and implementation by performing molecular/cellular studies for axonal RNA transport & translation, and cell signaling.
  • Preparing progress reports, contributing to scholarly works for presentation and publication.
  • Presenting data and research progress at group meetings and other venues that encourage collaboration.
  • Developing new ideas for current and future research projects that will precipitate independent research grant applications and new research funding.
  • Overseeing work of undergraduate and graduate research assistants.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
Ph.D. degree in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Neurobiology, Biology or closely related field with experience in hiPSCs, neurodevelopmental disorders, signal transductions, protein synthesis, underlying signaling between cellular organelles as it relates neurodevelopment.
