The AMMLab laboratory in the Division of Engineering, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a postdoctoral associate to work on developing microfluidic tools for biofilm co-culture and manipulation.

The successful applicant will drive a fascinating project on the development of an innovative miniaturized tool for controlling and manipulating Porphyromonas gingivalis (Pg) biofilms, with a goal to identify key biophysical determinants of oral microbial ecology. The multifunctional tool will allow performing biophysical experiments to assess the impact of mechanical stress, flow and geometry on the growth of biofilms at different shapes, cell densities, and in co-culture with other bacteria.

The candidate will further contribute to other projects by developing microsystems and bio-chips for different biomedical and environmental applications. The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment consisting of PhD-level scientists, PhD students, and Master-level full-time researchers.

Applicants must have a PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering. Intensive prior knowledge and experience in experimental microfluidics and 3D Printing are essential. Excellent communication skills in English, ability to work in high volume, and capability to be involved with various multi-disciplinary projects are required.
