Job Description:

The Zeng Research Group at the Department of Chemistry, University of Florida (UF), Gainesville, FL, invites applications for a Postdoctoral Associate position in Nanocluster Chemistry beginning in Spring 2024. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Prof. Chenjie Zeng (https://zeng.chem.ufl.edu/) , focusing on the precision synthesis and rational control of nanomaterials at the atomic level.

Successful candidates shall have strong synthetic and characterization background at the molecular and/or material levels and will gain the experience in merging molecular and material chemistry. The postdoctoral researcher will be responsible for conducting the research in synthesizing and charactering atomically precise nanoclusters. The Postdoctoral Researcher will also be expected to mentoring graduate students, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, and assisting funding applications.

Our group specializes in precision synthesis and rational control of nanomaterials at the atomic level. By combining coordination, cluster, and colloidal chemistry at the nanoscale, we strive to achieve a precise correlation between structure and properties for developing more efficient catalysts, advancing energy conversion technologies, and exploring cutting-edge biomedical applications of nanomaterials. Expected Salary:

The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, and the compensation includes a full benefits package.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Ph.D. in Chemistry
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in molecular and material characterization, including NMR, IR, mass spectrometry, SC-XRD, PXRD, TGA, TEM, and/or SEM

The successful candidate should have a strong background in chemical synthesis, including organic ligand synthesis, metal-ligand coordination synthesis, nanocluster synthesis, nanoparticle synthesis, and/or electrochemical synthesis

A strong track record of publications would be an asset
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and in a team
Ability to take initiatives, set priorities, time-manage, and resolve problem

Previous experience with synthesizing and characterizing atomically precise nanomaterials is a plus.
