Post-Doct Research Associate, Nuclear Engineering - 17000000R1 


 Postdoctoral researcher will be responsible for performing computer simulations of plasma surface interactions, specifically focused on the surface response of mixed material surfaces containing lithium, carbon and/or refractory metals during exposure to low energy hydrogen and helium ions in a plasma environment. The research will involve the use of density functional theory calculations, in addition to atomistic molecular dynamics simulations, and developing mechanistic based kinetic Monte Carlo simulation techniques. The y successful applicant will have prior research experience in the field of plasma - material interactions, as well as documented experience with electronic structure or atomistic modeling techniques, including the analysis and visualization of simulation data. The post-doctoral engineer will be expected to publish original research in refereed journals, and be capable of working with a team of scientists from multiple institutions, including Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory, the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and the University of Tennessee. 





Qualifications require a PhD in nuclear engineering or materials science, applied physics, and a demonstrated publication record.
