Job Summary: Under the direction of a senior faculty member who serves as a mentor for the postdoctoral appointee, the Postdoctoral Fellow provides for an internship and continuation of scholarly activity and research after achieving the Ph.D. or other doctoral degree.

The University of Alabama seeks applications for Postdoctoral positions. Successful candidates will hold terminal degrees and demonstrate a record of academic achievement in a research area or areas covered by the College. The College and or hiring department will establish a series of structured merit-based evaluations. Initial appointments are for one year, with renewal contingent upon demonstration of research productivity.


Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must have a Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry.

Candidates will need to have completed their Ph.D. or have it completed by the start of employment. Skills and Knowledge: Excellent oral and written communication skills. Synthesis including air-free reactions, optical spectroscopy including UV-vis absorption emission, and NMR spectroscopy. Ability to compose manuscripts and excellent mentorship skills.


Preferred Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry completed within the past 3 years, and continuous work experience since completing the Ph.D.
