Position Summary
The Bergmeier lab at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking a postdoctoral research fellow to conduct in vivo and in vitro studies aimed at a better understanding of how the function of megakaryocytes and platelets is controlled by small GTPases. Our experimental approach combines biophysical/-chemical and cell biological work with state-of-the-art imaging techniques such as lattice light sheet, 2-photon and spinning disk confocal microscopy. The Bergmeier lab is embedded in a vibrant scientific community at UNC Chapel Hill as well as a network of (inter)national collaborators. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
PhD or MD degree is required.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
The selected candidate will study the molecular mechanisms governing platelet production, survival, and/or function. A particular focus will be on the role of small GTPases in these processes. A variety of in vitro biochemical and cell biological assays, as well as state-of-the-art intravital microscopy techniques will be used to complete the projects. They are expected to be highly motivated and willing to perform animal studies.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Experience/knowledge in animal handling and microscopy techniques is a plus.
