Position Summary | The Bergmeier lab at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking a postdoctoral research fellow to conduct in vivo and in vitro studies aimed at a better understanding of how the function of megakaryocytes and platelets is controlled by small GTPases. Our experimental approach combines biophysical/-chemical and cell biological work with state-of-the-art imaging techniques such as lattice light sheet, 2-photon and spinning disk confocal microscopy. The Bergmeier lab is embedded in a vibrant scientific community at UNC Chapel Hill as well as a network of (inter)national collaborators. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements | PhD or MD degree is required. |
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience | The selected candidate will study the molecular mechanisms governing platelet production, survival, and/or function. A particular focus will be on the role of small GTPases in these processes. A variety of in vitro biochemical and cell biological assays, as well as state-of-the-art intravital microscopy techniques will be used to complete the projects. They are expected to be highly motivated and willing to perform animal studies. |
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience | Experience/knowledge in animal handling and microscopy techniques is a plus. |
