As a top-ranked, nationally-recognized leader in basic science research, our faculty and staff are engaged in innovative and cutting edge research in the areas of neuroscience, cardiovascular biology, cellular cytoskeleton, cell motility and imaging. The Department has over 50 faculty engaged in basic science research, education and national service. Many faculty and their laboratories provide training for undergraduate and postgraduate trainees in the biomedical sciences.
Position Summary
A postdoctoral research associate position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Edward Moreira Bahnson in the Department of Cell Biology and Physiology. We are looking for an extremely talented and highly motivated junior PhD to work on the development and characterization of novel therapeutic approaches for cardiovascular disease. We are a dynamic multidisciplinary research group within the Department of Cell Biology and Physiology, the McAllister Heart Institute and the Center for Nanotechnology in Drug Delivery.

The selected candidate will also be responsible for the preparation of manuscripts related to the projects and submission of the manuscripts for publication in scientific journals. Additionally, the successful candidate will be expected to apply for external funding and mentor junior lab members.
The successful candidate will gain experience in a number of cutting edge techniques such as cutting edge three D imaging, and animal models of cardiovascular disease. Opportunities exist for networking with world class scientists, collaborating in a highly multidisciplinary and collegial environment, and career development.
In addition to research, the post-doctoral fellow will be actively involved with writing scientific papers and presenting talks at scientific meetings.
