Position Summary
The Cohen lab in the Department of Neurology, School of Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is recruiting highly motivated postdoctoral fellows to investigate the pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s disease using mouse models. In vivo techniques including generating animal models, tissue extraction, brain biochemistry, stereotactic mouse injections, and drug administration will be performed on various mouse models. The candidate is expected to lead these projects independently and manage mouse colonies to address major questions regarding the emergence of age-related Alzheimer’s pathology and mechanisms of disease pathogenesis using, for example, high-resolution brain clearing approaches, light-sheet microscopy, single-cell -omics approaches, and viral gene therapy-based approaches
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
PhD is required.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Meticulous record keeping, presentation skills, and ability to collaborate in a team and multi-lab environment at UNC-Chapel Hill are required. Candidates must have in-vivo expertise in biochemical and/or molecular analyses of the brain and related tissues, a molecular biology background sufficient to independently lead this project, and also experience working with animal models. The successful applicant must have a demonstrated track record including published first-author papers in biological science or related field of study.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
An advanced PhD. in life sciences is preferred.
