Position Summary
A postdoctoral research associate position is available to conduct breast cancer research and dissecting DNA damage and immunotherapy responses. 
We are seeking highly motivated and collaborative postdoctoral researcher to join the Gupta lab at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill to lead funded research projects at the nexus between DNA damage responses and breast tumor immunology. You will join a diverse and dynamic research group that studies mechanisms of DNA repair, DNA damage responses, tumor immunology, and breast cancer biology. Our lab employs sophisticated in vitro and in vivo models of triple negative breast cancer and CRISPR engineering to assess DNA repair, DNA damage responses, and/or immune sensing pathways and evaluate their effects on therapeutic response. In particular, we are interested in DNA polymerase theta as an emerging therapeutic target in breast cancer. Additionally, we are investigating the role of DNA damage and immune sensing pathways in determining response to radiation and immunotherapy combinations. The projects will use a variety of advanced molecular assays including CRISPR screening, single cell RNAseq, and/or spatial transcriptomics to evaluate the phenotypic consequences of genetic perturbations. The projects will also have a translational component with access to patient specimens from a clinical trial of immunotherapy and radiation in breast cancer. This is a unique opportunity to join a great lab group and work on an exciting scientific project that may also be clinically impactful.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
The applicant must have a MD or PhD in molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry or related degree.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Prior experience in molecular biology, cancer biology and/or tumor immunology is preferred, as is a willingness to learn bioinformatics methods.
