Position Summary
The Department of Earth, Marine and Environmental Sciences Department at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks a highly qualified and motivated applicant to investigate the contributions of small eukaryotic phytoplankton towards new production in the open ocean. The successful candidate will pursue independent research on topics that may include marine biogeochemistry, microbial ecology, phytoplankton genomics, physiology, primary productivity and elemental requirements. The post-doc will be expected to work as part of a team on an NSF-funded project that involves both laboratory work and field work, participating on research cruises. Funding is available for two years with the option of renewal, pending funding availability.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Applicants should have or expect to have a Ph.D. in marine sciences, oceanography, biogeochemistry, environmental sciences or other relevant discipline. Experience with stable isotope analyses, seagoing research and excellent communication and interpersonal skills is required.
