Position Summary
The vascular precision medicine post-doc will work closely with the program PI and associated team members to support vascular precision medicine research priorities across UNC and externally. The current priorities of the program are (1) to build a precision medicine approach to evaluating existing clinical trial and real world data from patients with vascular disease; (2) to collaborate across the university to bring novel data resources and statistical methods to the evaluation of patients with vascular disease; (3) to create translational models to bring precision medicine findings to direct patient care. Depending on Program priorities and personal interests, there can be flexibility in the post-doc role to develop their own extramural funding for research priorities in-line with the overarching mission of the Vascular Precision Medicine Program at UNC.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
PhD, MD or equivalent in related field
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Statistical Programming
* Proficiency in the application of a broad array of analytical and statistical methods such as descriptive and inferential statistics, multivariate regression, clustering, neural networks, predictive modeling, forecasting, machine learning and optimization algorithms.
* Experience and expertise in modern analytical programming languages (such as R, Python, Julia, Go, Scala, etc) for statistical programming including creation of inferential models, machine learning models, and maintenance of code and models.
* Experience developing and maintaining data and modeling pipelines in development and production environments utilizing version control software such as Git.
* Development of complex data visualizations.
* Demonstrated skill in one or more of the following areas: Machine learning, deep learning, statistical analysis, natural language processing, computer vision, graph analysis, or semantic web technologies.
Research Collaboration
* Work collaboratively as a co-investigator or collaborator on funded research and to pursue new, original research applications.
* Engage in data analysis, methods development/deployment, and results and code dissemination as part of funded partnerships.
* Provide guidance in the selection of analytics tools, resources, and models to meet the needs of various projects.
* Collaborate on (or lead, as appropriate) manuscript preparation, submission, and revision.
