Position Summary
The Sparkenbaugh lab (Department of Medicine) is seeking a postdoctoral research associate to lead a R01-funded project investigating the role of coagulation proteases and protease-activated receptors in sickle cell disease. We utilize transgenic mouse models, surgical models of thrombosis, and in vivo imaging in combination with novel pharmacologic and genetic methodologies. Current projects are examining the roles of coagulation and inflammation in vascular stasis and end-organ damage in sickle cell disease. Other projects in the lab focus on the role of these pathways in mouse models of disease.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
PhD in Biology, Pathology, Pharmacology, Toxicology, Immunology or a related discipline
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Expertise in use of mouse models, including survival surgeries. 
Experience with molecular biology skills (western blots, PCR, DNA extraction and purification, ELISAs) and immunohistochemistry. 
A good track record of productivity based on published abstracts and/or peer-reviewed publications is expected.
Mammalian cell culture experience.
