Position Summary/Description:


The Matute lab at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill is looking for a postdoctoral fellow in fungal genetics. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will work in the field of medical mycology with an emphasis on Histoplasma. In particular, the project aims to functionally validate the involvement of candidate genes in interspecific differences in virulence and antifungal resistance. The Postdoc will be encouraged to develop independent lines of research within the broader goals of the project and the lab. The ideal candidate will be creative, enthusiastic, motivated by experimental and analytical challenges, and proficient in molecular genetics. Management of BSL2+ pathogens is considered a plus, but it is not strictly required. The candidate must have knowledge of the latest developments in the field and classical literature as well. Candidates should have a Ph.D.in Biology, Microbiology, Genetics, or in Ecology and Evolution. Experience in molecular genetics is essential.

Education and Experience:


Management of BSL2+ pathogens is considered a plus, but it is not strictly required.
