Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy (www.pharmacy.unc.edu) is one of five health science schools (Pharmacy, Nursing, Dentistry, Public Health, Medicine) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is one of the oldest health science academic programs at Chapel Hill. Position Summary
* Analyze preclinical-clinical data (in vitro or in vivo), translational PK/PD data, host immune response data, plot data, review mechanistic details and propose modeling strategy
* Contribute to the model development process or lead the development of fit-for-purpose mathematical models (e.g., mechanism-based, population-based PK/PD, PBPK or QSP) to inform in vivo or clinical study design by using modeling and simulation approaches (using existing or published models) to address gaps in our knowledge and increase and expand out in-house clinical pharmacology knowledge
* Apply quantitative methods to integrate knowledge of PK, PD, patient characteristics, disease states, and drug-drug interactions to optimize dose selection, dosage regimens and study designs throughout drug development
* Publish research performed, contribute to grant writing and help shape the overall scope and direction of the research program
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
A doctorate in Pharmacy, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Systems Biology, or Computational Biology
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
* Hands-on programming skills in R; experiences with additional PKPD modeling tools like Phoenix WinNonlin, NONMEM, ADAPT, S-ADAPT are desired 
* Strengths in a variety of quantitative and qualitative research methods
* Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team with colleagues and collaborators from diverse backgrounds 
* Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to manage multiple tasks
