Position Summary
The Marsico Lung Institute at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine is at the forefront of groundbreaking research in lung biology, focusing on both basic and translational studies. Our team employs mass spectrometry-based proteomics to analyze a wide array of lung samples, investigating chronic lung diseases such as asthma, COPD, cystic fibrosis, and bronchiectasis. We are currently seeking a dynamic and passionate Postdoctoral Research Associate. This role is pivotal in advancing our understanding of chronic lung diseases through innovative qualitative and quantitative proteomic techniques.
 
Our laboratory, located within the Marsico Lung Institute, is one of the best equipped and most focused on mucin/mucus biochemistry and biophysics as well as Lung’s innate immunity, making it one of the leading research groups in the USA in this field. The postdoctoral position offers the successful candidate an exceptional chance to develop new skills and apply them to crucial questions regarding innate lung defense mechanisms and various chronic lung conditions. Working within the Marsico Lung Institute and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill provides an outstanding environment for career development in the field of lung disease research.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Ph.D. in biochemistry, a biological science, or in a related discipline, or an equivalent professional degree.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Hands-on experience in mass spectrometry-based qualitative and quantitative proteomics.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary research teams.
Demonstrated scientific productivity.
Ability to work independently and in close cooperation with the primary investigator.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Expertise in protein isolation and purification is highly desirable.
