Job Summary
The Division of Public Health is seeking a highly motivated candidate for a post-doctoral position in Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Response. The post-doc will have the opportunity to participate in basic and applied research focused on public health emergencies, particularly infectious disease emergencies. They will have the opportunity to work with faculty in both public health and epidemiology working on one or more projects focused on infectious disease emergencies, including developing modeling tools to help public health agencies prepare for and respond to such emergencies.
Position is for one year with possibility of renewal for multiple years. The position is designed to prepare individuals for independent academic research careers. Individuals selected for this position will have opportunities to lead and/or co-author manuscript publications and share project investigator role in a manner commensurate with their experience and effort.
Responsibilities
  • Candidates must be able to perform self-directed research as well as work well with the PI and related project teams
  • Collaborate with research faculty in the Division of Public Health and the Division of Epidemiology.
  • Collaborate with faculty across the institution
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills: present research at national meetings and author manuscripts for publications in scientific journals
  • Author and/or co-author intramural and extramural research grants.
  • If needed, provide guidance to undergraduate and graduate students as part of the research team
Minimum Qualifications
Preferences
Candidates must possess a doctoral degree (PhD, DrPH, or equivalent) in epidemiology, public health, or a related field. Strong quantitative analytical and writing skills are required. Research experience in infectious disease emergencies or public health systems is preferred. Experience in SAS, R, or Stata is required.
