Job Overview

The Experimental High Energy Physics group in the Department of Physics at the University of Cincinnati seeks candidates for a Post Doctoral research fellow position to work on the LHCb experiment at CERN's Large Hadron Collider.  The position is available to begin early 2022 and is for a one-year appointment, initially.  There is a possibility of renewal based on satisfactory performance and the availability of funding.  The preferred location for this position is to be based at the CERN laboratory in Geneva, Switzerland.

 

We will begin reviewing applications on January 15, 2022 and continue until the position is filled.


Essential Functions

The successful candidate will perform measurements of Electroweak/QCD physics and searches for exotic new physics with LHCb, and will contribute to the successful operation of the LHCb detector.


Required Education

Candidates for the position must have, or be about to obtain, a PhD or equivalent in high-energy physics or a closely-related field.


Required Experience

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Advanced programming skills with C++ or Python languages
  • Experience with data analysis in high energy physics
  • Experience with high energy physics detector operations or construction
  • The capability for effective scientific communication
