A full-time Post Doc Fellow position is available in the laboratory of Wei Huang, PhD in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Cardiovascular Health & Disease at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. This individual will assist the Principal Investigator in conducting research and analyzing research data and ensure that all experiments are appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of the University of Cincinnati.

Dr. Huang's lab is committed to unraveling the cellular and molecular mechanisms that underline stress- or disease-induced cardiovascular diseases, and ultimately to identify novel therapeutic targets for the effective management of cardiac regeneration in adult humans.

• Conduct research experiments in a particular field within the pre-determined research scope and methodology.
• Gather and analyze data and develop new ideas that promote current research.
• Prepare data summaries, reports, manuscripts and presentations of research results.
• Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentation; may assist in grant writing.
• Keep informed of developments in field to maintain and enhance professional expertise.
• Lab maintenance, including equipment maintenance and ordering of supplies, as needed.
• May teach techniques to others, train, and mentor junior research staff.
• Engage in appropriate training and professional development opportunities.
• Play an active role in seeking career and research advice, both from the faculty supervisor and from other faculty members as well.

Ph.D. and/or MD degree in biology, genomics, or a related field, or the recognized terminal degree, or the equivalent foreign equivalent.

• In-depth knowledge of specialized field, process or discipline.
• May require experience with specialized software programs. 

• Background in cell biology, molecular biology, and mouse genetics with an interest in Cardiovascular Biology.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team to make a positive contribution to a dynamic intellectual environment.
• Demonstrated ability to apply innovative experimental strategies to address important biological problems.
• Proficiency in data analysis.
• Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with in vitro disease modeling, including cell lines, primary cells, and iPSC-derived cardiomyocytes.
• Experience with in vivo disease modeling, including proficiency in diverse techniques such as surgery, echocardiography, transgenic mice, viral vectors, gene editing, immunocytochemistry, high-throughput microscopy, protein biochemistry, and transcriptomics/proteomics.
