Job Overview

The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, Department of Cancer Biology, is hiring for a full-time Postdoctoral Fellow to join the Fan Laboratory (https://researchdirectory.uc.edu/p/fanyb ) . Fan lab has major research interests in vascular biology, metabolism and tumor microenvironment. We currently focus on the elucidation of molecular mechanisms underlying vascular diseases and tumor angiogenesis using a combination of molecular, cellular, genomic and mouse genetic (conditional knockout, transgenic and mutant knock-in) approaches for the studies and translational research.

Positions are temporary appointments as a research trainee.  Appointments shall not exceed five (5) years; however, short extensions may be granted when necessary to complete a critical research project.


Essential Functions
  • Perform and conduct the research required by the faculty supervisor to a high standard and in accordance with all institutional and federal regulations.
  • Engage in appropriate training and professional development opportunities.
  • May support the development of proposals for research-related funding and grants.
  • Communicate actively with the project team, ensuring that relevant information and issues in implementing projects/experiments are captured in a comprehensive and timely manner.
  • Play an active role in seeking career and research advice, both from the faculty supervisor and from other faculty members as well.

Minimum Requirements
  • Ph.D. in Physiology, Pharmacology, Biology, or a related field required. 


Required Education

Doctoral Degree in the appropriate field or discipline, or the recognized terminal degree, or the equivalent foreign equivalent.


Required Experience
  • Research experience in vascular diseases, breast cancer biology, or tumor microenvironment.

  • Prior experience in animal studies and surgical procedures.

  • Experience to independently design and conduct experiments
