Job Summary:

The Barnard Center for Research on Women (BCRW) (bcrw.barnard.edu) is hiring a new Post-Baccalaureate Fellow for 2023-24. The Post Baccalaureate Fellowship program is a research and career opportunity for graduating seniors. The role is integral to supporting the operations of BCRW and its commitments to intersectional social justice feminism. This position includes developing an independent research project. All fellows engage together as part of a cohort in on-going professional development and learning from Beyond Barnard in collaboration with the Office of Human Resources. Reporting to a faculty director, fellowships are full time paid appointments with health benefits. The fellowship will extend from July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2024 and include paid holiday and vacation days.

Job Description:

Essential Duties:

  • Create an independent research or creative project in support of BCRW’s contributions to intersectional social justice feminism.
  • Support the day-to-day operations of BCRW, its research projects, and public programming (both online and in-person).
  • Work closely with faculty from across the College in support of BCRW’s research projects.
  • Support BCRW’s publications, social media presence, and video production.
  • Work with BCRW’s network of interested students and help to build connections with student organizations.
  • Additional fellowship responsibilities and duties as needed.

Salary: $45,000 - $45,000 annual stipend

Skills, Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Coursework in fields related to intersectional social justice feminism.
  • Demonstrated interest in research, writing, and intellectual engagement related to social change.
  • Excellent interpersonal, collaborative, and communication skills.
  • Ability to think flexibly and engage in creative problem-solving.
  • Interact with faculty, students, staff and guest artists in a collaborative manner.


Preference will be given to a Barnard College graduating senior.
Graduating seniors from Columbia University may apply.

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the College's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
