The post award research administrator will support and manage operational and financial post-award processes for the School of Engineering (SoE). This role will serve as a resource to faculty, staff, and administrators with research awards, contracts, subcontracts, etc. with regard to award management and administration. This includes establishing and maintaining timely and accurate records of awards and any award modifications, extensions, etc., proficient implementation and management of purchasing and procurement processes, financial monitoring and management of awards, and an ability to provide guidance to ensure award compliance. This role will serve as a liaison to the university’s sponsored research office and coordinate and communicate with principal investigators, department chairs, and the lab manager and safety team as warranted. As such, this position requires strong attention to detail, interpersonal and collaboration skills, analysis and organizational skills, and communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or related field;
• 3+ years of professional research administration or post award experience;
• Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal skills;
• Ability to work collaboratively with other individuals and teams;
• Strong skills in Excel and other Microsoft based software applications, problem solving and analytical skills, and strong attention to detail;
• Well organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously;
• Articulated commitment to working with socially and culturally diverse communities.

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

• 5+ years of professional research administration and/or post award experience;
• Professional research administration and/or post award experience;
• Knowledge of, and ability to interpret federal, state, sponsor, and university guidelines including Office of Management and Budget Uniform Guidance;
• Experience with government procurement and purchasing
• Experience with Ellucian Banner or related ERP;
• Experience with Runway or related procurement systems;
• Experience with Costpoint or related electronic research administrative system / ERP;
• Knowledge and experience with sponsor research administration systems;
• Experience in an academic or related research environment;
• Certified Research Administrator or similar accreditation;
• Experience working with socially and culturally diverse communities.
