This position will be located in University of Houston- Victoria campus. 

Supervises law enforcement and/or other safety and security personnel for an assigned shift and monitors shift activity to ensure actions are in accordance with procedures and applicable laws. Guides and maintains the operation of law enforcement and security related programs and functions. Performs Police Officer patrol tasks as needed.

  • Supervises shift personnel including activities, work assignments, development, and evaluation of performance.
  • Coordinates the Beat Management program, call responses, and investigations of crime scenes.
  • Disseminates information regarding criminal activity, special assignments and safety or security related events to appropriate departmental staff.
  • Acts as liaison between the department and the community, providing safety and security information, and initiating and participating in crime prevention presentations.
  • Identifies and implements efficiencies in department operations and processes.
  • Prepares and distributes various reports; reviews reports written by subordinates for accuracy; and maintains local supervisory files.
  • Conducts regular building, uniform and vehicle inspections.
  • Participates in periodic training as required.
  • Investigates complaints concerning shift personnel.
  • Performs Police Officer patrol duties as needed. Performs other job-related duties are assigned.

    Job Description:

    Qualifications:

    18 months and 3 years’ experience.

    Requires specialized training in basic trades, principles, procedures, practice, routines or techniques in a specific area or trade which might normally be acquired through up to 18 months of education or training beyond the high school level. Vocational competence in the operation of mechanical or electronic equipment may be required.

    Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related experience.

    Requires technical certification or licensing directly related to the job, as specified on a job description addendum. Additional Information/ Preferred Qualifications:

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Requires specialized training in basic trades, principles, procedures, practice, routines or techniques in a specific area or trade which might normally be acquired through up to 18 months of education or training beyond the high school level.

    Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related experience in law enforcement and public safety, with two (2) of those years having supervisory experience in a Police agency.

    Vocational competence in the operation of mechanical or electronic equipment may be required, specifically operation of motorized vehicles, computer equipment, and law- enforcement related tools.

    A valid, active TCOLE (formerly TCLEOSE) license with up-to-date annual TCOLE training. Must be at least 21 years of age. Must have a valid Texas Driver ' s License before receiving job offer.

    Must pass a Criminal History and valid Driver ' s License check prior to an interview. Must be able to work nights, weekends and overtime assignments.

    Must pass Background Investigation prior to employment. Must pass a pre-employment drug screening.

    UHPD requires all applicants to complete the criminal history fields on their application. Applicants with incomplete criminal history fields will not be considered for a position.

    Participates in peri odic training as required. Investigates complaints concerning shift personnel. Performs other job-related duties are assigned.

    This position requires the applicant to pass several phases: i.e.: Multiple types of review
