Police Sergeant - Public Safety

The Department of Public Safety at the University of Tennessee at Martin has an opening for a Police Sergeant.  

Shift Commander: 
  * Supervise the night or afternoon shift of all on-duty officers and student workers. 
  * Provide deterrent patrol and investigate reported crimes, emergency calls and safety issues. 
  * Ensure all applicable reports are filed/property is secured. 
  * Train, evaluate, and discipline subordinates as dictated. 

Qualifications

 

Qualifications Required:
  * Must be a certified officer in the state of Tennessee
  * Must not have received disciplinary suspension or received two or more written reprimands for one year prior to opening.
  * Must receive favorable promotion recommendations from chain of command
  * High School and 3 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  * Two years of college 
  * Three years’ experience in law enforcement with some supervisory experience
