Assumes responsibility for the supervision, maintenance, and control of the following areas: steam and chilled water piping systems, natural gas systems, compressed air, sanitary and waste systems, and equipment control relative to the Plumbing Shop at the Health Sciences Center campus.
Duties:
- Paper Work. Assumes responsibility for monitoring time and material records for accuracy, i.e. writing material requisitions, job estimates, developing assignment schedules, etc.
- Inspections. Inspects periodically all facilities and makes written recommendations for specific repairs or preventative maintenance activities relative to the following processes: steam and chilled water piping systems, natural gas systems, compressed air, sanitary and waste systems, etc.
- Training. Monitors and evaluates changing technology, procedures, equipment, and materials by reading appropriate trade journals, safety codes, and operating manuals.
- Supervision. Supervises and evaluates assignment schedules, performance, and training requirements of subordinates assigned to his/her shop.
- Maintenance Supervision. Assumes responsibility for the inspection and direction of work processes involving maintenance, project supervision and repair assigned to his/her shop.
- Scheduling. Schedules assigned work efficiently relative to priority and importance.
- Safety. Ensures shop personnel adhere to proper health and safety practices.
- Other Duties. Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the functions of any site support position to include assisting any skilled trade.
Job Requirements
---
Education: High school, GED, or trade school certification
Experience: 60 months plumbing experience that includes at least 24 months of supervisory experience.
Certifications/ Licenses:
- State of Oklahoma Plumbing Contractors License
- Valid Oklahoma Driver's License
Skills:
- Advanced knowledge of plumbing
- Basic math skills
- Ability to accurately read and understand written materials and instructions
- Perform simple recordkeeping operations
- Ability to use tools or equipment with proficiency
Additional Information:
- OUHSC Plumbing Shop does not maintain or control 'compressed air'.
- Candidate must register as Contractor of record for the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center
- Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm some on-call, OT, hours, weekends and snow/ice duty
Working Conditions:
- Physical: Heavy lifting and handling dirty materials. Bend, stoop, reach, and crawl.
- Environmental: Exposure to disagreeable conditions such as extreme temperature changes and odors.
