Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree and 4 years of experience in a collegiate program. An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience may be substituted for the requirements noted. Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. Knowledge of NCAA roles and regulations. Grade 8 (Salary).

Position Description:

The Director of Basketball Player Development & Alumni Relations focuses on the holistic development of current student- athletes including character development, leadership skills, basketball development, and networking for future endeavors post basketball. The position also functions as the liaison to the basketball alumni community in coordination with the Deputy Athletic Director, SWA, Assistant AD for Men's Basketball, and the Associate Athletic Director for Development to assure the basketball program is connected to its legacy of alumni both in the Louisville community and beyond. In addition, this position will strengthen the overall profile of the basketball programs through collaboration with the current coaching staff, former players, and alumni. Lastly, the position involves assisting in special projects including special events, community outreach, player evaluations, and other duties assigned by the Deputy Athletic Director and head coach(es).

Job Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and implement player development programing for men's basketball student-athletes.
  • Develop strategies to positively reinforce the importance of character building and team building to student-athletes and coaches.
  • Acts as liaison and public relations' ambassador between basketball alumni and the Athletic Department. Coordinates special events, annual giving events, and alumni outreach.
  • Develops annual alumni relations and annual giving plans to deal with specific circumstances including goals, calendars, campus objectives, and priorities.
  • Works collaboratively with leadership to achieve mutually agreed upon goals and objectives.
  • Assists coaching staff with short- and long-term strategies in player development.
  • Assist the coaching staff with on-campus recruiting efforts for potential student-athletes, including providing on-campus tours as needed.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with former University of Louisville basketball players and alumni.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience within a NCAA Division I collegiate basketball program
  • Former Division I student-athlete
  • Working knowledge of the game of basketball
