Description

The Department of Pediatrics at The University of Chicago is seeks Physician Scientists to join its Center for the Science of Early Trajectory (SET Center) in the Section of Neonatology. We are looking for candidates with a track record of clinical excellence and academic contributions as demonstrated through training and/or practice experience. Applicants’ research may approach developmental biology from any topic in biomedical sciences related to human development, including but not limited to immunology, microbiology, epigenetics, or any field related to the biology of infant development. Additional responsibilities will include teaching students (undergraduate, graduate, medical) and/or housestaff and fellows, and clinical service commensurate with the individual’s qualifications and interests. Protected time will be provided with an expectation that the candidate will either come with extramural funding or procure it within the first 3 years of employment. Academic rank and compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) are dependent upon qualifications.

The Center for the Science of Early Trajectories (SET) is composed of a diverse network of basic scientists, physician scientists, and clinicians working collaboratively to transform infant development research and establish a biologic map of the development of pre- and neonatal infants at the cellular and molecular level, thereby defining the optimal trajectory for infants. This new specialty of neonatology research will translate into nuanced, patient-centered care for our most vulnerable babies, improving their health outcomes for their entire lives.

Prior to the start of employment, the successful candidate must have an MD, PhD, both, or an equivalent degree. The appointee will be expected to have successful external NIH or equivalent funding within three years of appointment.
