Job Summary: The orthopedic surgeon provides licensed medical care in the specialty area of orthopedic surgery.  Responsibilities include diagnosis, surgery, pre/post surgery care, staff education, collaboration on case management and clinical research.  The orthopedic surgeon manages complex and sometimes unpredictable situations.  The orthopedic surgeon must be competent in technical clinical and surgical skills, cognitive and interpersonal skills required to serve those patients receiving the above mentioned services.  The orthopedic surgeon is expected to practice within the established Medical Center and physician’s standards of practice (policies, procedures, protocols), and adhere to the Intensive Caring Value Statements.
Required Qualifications: Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO). Board certified or board eligible in area of specialization required; active certification from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) required. Completion of an accredited residency in internal medicine and a fellowship training program in Orthopedics required.
