Position Summary

The Special Procedures Coordinator/Physician Liaison Coordinate referrals/procedures through insurance providers, physician offices, and procedure sites to promote team awareness and ensure patient safety as well as maximize clinic efficiency. Coordinates monthly Radiation Oncology Quality and Patient Safety Committee meeting.


Responsibilities

  • Coordinates treatment procedures/dates/times with radiation oncologists/surgeons/ physician practices/ambulatory surgery/treatment machines and ensures procedures are completed and/or scheduled in a timely manner - 30%
  • Assembles documentation pertinent to patients clinical information – i.e referring physician notes, lab, consents, diagnostic imaging, pathology and other documents necessary for an provider visit and/or medical treatment at our CUIMC hospital based practice. - 20%
  • Meets with patients to assist with insurance coverage issues, collects patient payments and referrals and assist with patient sign up for patient portal (Epic). 15%
  • Maintains ongoing tracking and appropriate documentation for authorizations for hospital and university billing.- 10%
  • Confirms/contacts insurance providers/billing manager to ensure prior approval requirements are met, ensuring complete and accurate patient demographic/intake- 10%
  • Manages physician/patient correspondence, MD schedules, phone communication, scanning and/or practice administrative support services - 10%
  • Provides medical documentation to financial services to maximize reimbursement to the hospital and physicians - 5%

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education, training, and experience, plus three years of related experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate in Spanish with a large Hispanic patient population
