Position Summary:
 
The School of Medicine at the University of California Irvine, has an opening for a Physician Assistant within the Primary Care Associates department. The UCI Primary Care Associates provide clinical services for UCI Health patients of all ages in a variety of settings and locations throughout Orange County, CA. Clinical sites include Costa Mesa, Laguna Hills, Newport Beach, Yorba Linda, Tustin, and Orange – with more to come.
 
We are seeking a highly competent, independent yet team-oriented individual who will be the primary clinician in the Walk-In Clinic with flexibility to work various hours throughout all locations. Under the supervision of the Medical Director and guided by applicable policies and procedures, the Physician Assistant will participate in the comprehensive care of patients in ambulatory clinic settings and provide multi-disciplinary care coordination, treatment, education, monitoring, and communication with patients and physicians. The incumbent will independently provide expert medical care to UCI Health patients and functions within the Advanced Practice Provider (APP) scope of practice.

$76.08 - $104.43 (Hourly Rate)
 
 
Required:
 
  • Candidate must have at least two years of experience working as a primary care physician assistant (internal or family medicine)
  • Current, active, unrestricted California Physician Assistant license. 
  • Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant Program. 
  • Educational training and/or experience to support setting and patient population. 
  • Current and active DEA registration. 
  • Evidence of completion of Controlled Substances Education Course that meets requirements pursuant to California Code of Regulations Sections 1399.610 and 1399.612. 
  • PAs who have completed a one-time Controlled Substances Education Course may order or furnish a Schedule II drug pursuant to the Practice Agreement without patient-specific advance approval. 
  • Active National Provider Identifier (NPI). National board certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) at the time of initial appointment. 
  • Current BLS certification. Ability to obtain UCIMC Allied Health Professional Privileges prior to hire. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues across the UCI Health System. 
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job. 
  • Skill to clearly communicate medical information to a broad variety of people, both in person and over the telephone. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Writing skills to prepare clear medical reports, laboratory data and progress notes. 
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload. 
  • Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties. 
  • Ability to be trained in the use of specialized medical equipment and procedures. 
  • Demonstrates an understanding of and adheres to privacy, confidentiality, and security policies and procedures related to Protected Health Information (PHI) or other sensitive and personal information. 
  • Experienced in providing and/or oversight of primary care 
  • Demonstrated experience in quality improvement to improve patient outcomes 
  • Leadership skills; ability to motivate, inspire, communicate with faculty, residents, staff, and peers to maintain a professional, team-based approach in the care of patients. 
  • Adhere to departmental policies, procedures, and objectives while in compliance of all UC policies and procedures. 
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all state and federal privacy laws
