Position Description


Advertised Job Summary
The Physician Assistant (PA) Program at the University Of South Carolina School Of Medicine invites applications for the Principal Faculty / Clinical Assistant Professor position. This is a full-time, 12-month faculty position. Reporting directly to the Program Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for administrative and curricular aspects of the PA Program didactic education. The primary responsibilities of the PA Program Principal Faculty are to provide effective leadership and management of a graduate-level PA program’s didactic education, including the planning, coordination, and delivery of the didactic education components in accordance with established education standards and practices, and utilizing the student evaluation system to assess student progress of essential education and skills for each didactic area.
Required Education and Experience
  • Candidates must possess a terminal PA (Master), medical (e.g., MD, DO), or pharmacy (PharmD) degree.
  • Current or eligible for board certification with intent to pursue.
  • Currently licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of South Carolina.
  • PharmD applicants must possess a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE-accredited College or school of pharmacy. PGY1 residency required or extensive academic experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Ideal candidates would have a minimum of three years of experience in clinical practice
  • For PharmD candidates, additional PGY2 and/or fellowship training is welcomed but not required
  • Demonstrated successful experience as a Physician Assistant
  • Previous teaching experience preferred
