Job Summary

This Physician Assistant (PA) position will provide support to the Breast Care Clinic as an educator, advocate and care provider and is responsible for the care, treatment, and well-being of patients followed in the Breast Care Clinic.  Specific job duties will be reviewed annually based on volume and practice needs. The PA in the Breast Care Clinic provides job functions with a focus on benign and malignant breast disease requiring surgical reconstruction, as well as other non-breast related diseases requiring plastic surgery. The NP will work closely with the Cancer Center Medical and Surgical Oncology practices, including satellite clinics, to provide comprehensive patient care. The APP will participate in projects, programs and other activities to support clinical practice and practice operations.

Required Qualifications

Physician Assistant (9203 PHYSCN AST):

• One to three (1-3) years PA outpatient surgical oncology or plastic surgery experience.
• Flexibility to orient and/or work at all UCSF Health locations and in varying schedules as outlined.

Senior Physician Assistant (9202 PHYSCN AST SR)

• Five (5) years PA outpatient surgical oncology or plastic surgery experience.
• Flexibility to orient and/or work at all UCSF Health locations and in varying schedules as outlined.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working inpatient and as first assist in the operating room.
• Five (5) years PA experience in Breast or Breast Plastics Surgical Oncology.
• Experience in a high patient volume Oncology practice/environment.
• Experience working in a large academic medical center.

License/Certification

UCSF Medical Center and Campus requires certain healthcare providers to be credentialed. In most cases this is done through its Office of Medical Affairs & Governance (OMAG) prior to the first working day. Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 60-90 days but can vary.

• Must hold an active and current California Physician Assistant License (PA).
• California driver’s license (CDL) if required for position.
• Must hold current national board certification by first day of work and maintain.
  • Must hold an active and transferable DEA license to California and have evidence of transfer by 90th day of clinical practice. (It is the responsibility of the employee to transfer their DEA license to their new place of employment if from out of state, via online DEA portal and provide evidence of transfer).
• Must have completed an AAPA recognized graduate master’s degree program as a physician assistant.
• Must have submitted enrollment with CMS Medicare and Medicaid through the credentialing process by first clinical day.
• Must hold Active American Heart Association CPR Certification.
