Position Description

Advertised Job Summary

The University of South Carolina recently opened a 68,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art medical facility with Gold LEED distinction. We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Licensed Physical Therapist who is interested in working within an accredited patient-centered medical home located on a dynamic college campus. As a Physical Therapist within Student Health Services, you will be responsible for providing treatment and rehabilitation for patients (students) referred primarily from medical providers within the facility but also from outside physicians.

Job duties (include but are not limited to):

Evaluating patients, creating and implementing individualized treatment and rehabilitation plans to improve function and/or return the patient to the previous level of fitness. Care will be provided in the state of the art physical therapy gym within the new health center facility. The majority of patients are in the typical college age group usually presenting with musculoskeletal problems with goals of returning to an active lifestyle. Post-operative treatment and rehabilitation is also provided in the department. The therapist will work closely and collaboratively with Sports Medicine Physicians and Athletic Trainers as well as all of the medical providers at Student Health Services.


Minimum Qualifications:
Doctor of physical therapy and one year of experience as a Physical Therapist or Master’s Degree in physical therapy and 1 year experience as a Physical Therapist. Licensure as a Physical Therapist by the South Carolina Board of Physical Therapy Examiners (or eligible).

Preferred Qualifications:
Doctor of physical therapy or Master’s Degree in physical therapy and 3-5 years’ experience as a Physical Therapist. Prefer individual with experience in dry needling and cognitive/vestibular post- concussion therapy.
